eBay vs Depop Fees (2026): Depop Charges US Sellers Nothing

Depop scrapped its US selling fee. You now pay about 3.75% against eBay's 14% - the biggest fee gap in resale. Here's what you trade for it.

Depop removed its selling fee for US sellers entirely. You now pay only payment processing — about 3.75% on a $100 sale, against eBay's 14%. That is a genuinely enormous gap, and it deserves an honest look at what you trade away for it.

The short answer: Depop charges US sellers no selling fee — just 3.3% + $0.45 payment processing. eBay charges 13.6% + $0.40. On a $100 sale you keep $96.25 on Depop versus $86.00 on eBay.

What you keep on a $100 sale

$96.25

3.3% + $0.45 processing = $3.75

eBay

$86.00
13.6% final value fee = $13.60
+ $0.40 per-order fee

That's $10.25 more per $100 sale — the biggest fee advantage of any major US resale platform. On a $50 sale it's $47.90 vs $42.80.

Two things to know before you switch: Depop's 3.3% + $0.45 is charged on the item price plus shipping plus tax, so the figures above are a floor — a $50 item with $5 shipping actually costs $2.27. And the 0% selling fee applies only to sellers based in the US, UK and Australia; elsewhere the 10% fee still applies.

Why Depop can charge nothing

Depop didn't absorb the cost — it moved it to buyers. Alongside removing the seller fee in July 2024 it introduced a buyer marketplace fee. So the money is still coming out of the transaction; it's just no longer coming out of your side of it. Worth understanding, because it means Depop prices can read slightly higher to buyers than the same item elsewhere.

One optional cost to watch: Boosted Listings charge 12% of the sale for US and UK listings (raised from 8% in March 2026), and only when a boosted item sells. Boost everything and you've quietly rebuilt a fee structure more expensive than eBay's.

Verdict: On fees, Depop wins outright and it isn't close — roughly a quarter of eBay's cost per sale. The trade is audience and range: Depop is young, fashion-led and strongest on streetwear, vintage and Y2K. eBay sells nearly everything to a far larger pool of buyers. Sell clothing to a Gen-Z audience on Depop; sell electronics, parts, collectibles and anything niche on eBay.

Fees aren't the whole story

A lower fee on a sale that never happens is worth nothing. Before you move your inventory somewhere cheaper, weigh three things the fee percentage hides:

FAQ

Does Depop still charge a selling fee?

Not for US sellers. Depop removed its 10% selling fee for sellers based in the US on 15 July 2024. You pay only Depop Payments processing of 3.3% + $0.45. Sellers outside the US, UK and Australia still pay 10%.

How much does Depop take from a $100 sale?

About $3.75 — 3.3% plus $0.45 in payment processing, with no selling fee. You keep roughly $96.25 before shipping and what you paid for the item. The processing fee also applies to shipping and tax, so the exact figure depends on your postage.

Is Depop cheaper than eBay?

Substantially. Depop costs about 3.75% of a $100 sale against eBay's 14% — roughly $10 more in your pocket per sale. eBay's higher fee buys a far larger buyer base and every product category.

What is the Depop Boosted Listings fee?

12% of the sale price for US and UK listings, up from 8% in March 2026. It's optional and charged only when a boosted item sells — but boosting routinely makes Depop more expensive than eBay.
